Burna boy Twice as tall and Wizkid made in lagos has been receiving massive accolades and the most recent is the both album being enlisted on British GQ’s best 24 albums of 2020.
These two artist have been among the mainstays in the industry and their success locally and internationally have definitely attracted a lot of attention to Nigeria and Africa music.
The year 2020 did not turn out to be as many people planned but these two albums made it tolerable for music lovers and others too.
Twice As Tall served as Burna Boy’s manifesto, as he reflects a mirror back on society’s corruption on “Monsters You Made” and reminds those of African descent of their heritage on the album’s lead single “Wonderful”. Naturally, Twice As Tall has earned Burna Boy another Grammy nomination and we’re pretty sure the award is already in the bag if things happen the way it’s meant to.
The entire 14-track record makes for warm, easy listening, offering some blessed release from the relentless misery of this year and conjuring up dreams of rum-soaked beach parties.combining his global vision with a focus on Yoruba, Afro-Latin and Afrobeats percussion that, as the name Made In Lagos asserts, is Wizkid’s love letter to home.
